The All-New 2016 Honda HR-V Set to Arrive Next Spring

The new HR-V is a small crossover SUV, and will join other Honda vehicles like the CR-V and Pilot in the SUV/CUV lineup.

Honda’s compact SUV is produced at the Honda North American manufacturing facility in Celaya, Mexico, and was originally planned for this winter. Instead, consumers will have to wait a few months longer to get their hands on the new model, as the automaker’s small SUV will arrive at dealerships across Canada next year.

The new 2016 Honda HR-V is a vehicle bound to intrigue many people with its sleek styling and versatile interior. In terms of exterior looks, the new model features expressive lines, a somewhat U-shaped grille that adds to the appeal, nice-looking headlights, and coupe-like styling. It also promotes a slight sense of sportiness/ boldness that is perhaps meant to enhance what the vehicle is all about: a sporty and versatile multi-dimensional small crossover SUV with the toughness, space and utility of an SUV, packaged in an urban-style design.

Based on the newly redesigned 2015 Honda Fit hatchback, the 2016 HR-V offers a similar go-anywhere-and-back versatility. The HR-V is of course larger than its subcompact sibling, and yet smaller than a traditional compact crossover SUV, which means that it is the perfect vehicle for both urban dwellers, and those looking to drive on the open/mountain roads.

The automaker’s small crossover SUV is built on the same Global Compact Series platform that underpins the new-generation Fit hatchback, with a unique center tank layout, resulting in a small SUV capable of providing one of the most spacious and versatile cabins in its class. And, the 2016 Honda HR-V is equipped with Honda’s exclusive reconfigurable Magic Seat, in case you were wondering about the versatility aspect. This means that second-row seats can fold flat to increase cargo space, or that one seat can fold down or flip up, providing extra room for long or awkward-fitting objects, if need be.

In terms of powertrains, the new SUV is equipped with a responsive 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine, capable of generating a total 138 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. It can be paired to either a slick-shifting 6-speed manual that is only available with two-wheel drive models, or a fuel-efficient Continuously Variable Transmission. Honda’s Real Time all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Control System for enhanced all-weather traction and control is available, depending on the model. The vehicle also comes equipped with brake and hill start assist, and vehicle stability and traction control, all of which are standard on the base trim.

As for features, consumers can expect standard elements like heated front seats, electronic parking brake, rearview camera, and Honda’s 7-inch touchscreen display audio telematics interface, among others. Available features include a push button start, satellite radio, sunroof, navigation system, leather trim, and Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.

From the HR-V, consumers can expect sleek styling, interior versatility, and good value and reliability, among many other aspects. Visit our website regularly for updates on the new 2016 Honda HR-V small crossover SUV, or contact us to pre-book your Honda HR-V test drive today.
